Beautiful Disaster

Hey what's up Adam's Apples? I have a picture here that hopefully loads eventually, so be sure to look back and see it so you can grasp the whole picture of what I am writing about.

Take a look at this picture. What do you see? Do you see a rock concert or fireworks? It is an incredibly beautiful painting. However, it is actually a picture of city being bombed. Jack Goldstein, the artist behind this portrait, painted this picture in 1982. He found photographs of bombings, and in this instance it was a city skyline being lit up from a bombing. I find it fascinating how such a beautiful picture can actually be something very sad.

That is where my next point comes in. I believe that God can make any sort of disaster into a beautiful 'art piece'. For example; in my life I find that the hardest of trials, make for the greatest refinements. God is there in the good and the bad, and He 'refines' you to become a better person along the way. I have found this to be true especially with my relationship with my father. For the readers that don't know, my parents split when I was young and I lived with my mother during my younger years. It never really bothered me until high school however. In high school though, I felt as though he had abandoned me and I never felt like I was good enough. I lacked a lot of self-esteem and became very good at putting on a mask and hiding my confusion and anger inside of me. It was only in Bible College that I found peace with that situation after failed attempts of reconciliation. Long story short, I do not have contact with my dad, but there is a mutual understanding and we have parted ways for now.

So what does this mean for you? Wherever you are at in your life, God is there. In the darkest of times He is even there, and guiding you. One of the verses that has stuck with me is Psalm 23:1-4 which reads "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." (ESV). It says right here that we should not fear even in the darkness, because the LORD your God is with you. How amazing is that?

I'm going to end this week on a challenge for you readers. I want you to reflect on your life at some of the difficult times you have had, and see how God refined you in that situation. Feel free to comment down below, or personally e-mail me @ adamwhel123@gmail.com. I would love to hear how God has been working in your life, and how He has been refining you. Peace out Adam's Apples.
