God's Masterpiece

Hey what's up Adam's Apples! This is my final post for the class, maybe I'll post more eventually who knows. This week will be on the topic of being God's Masterpiece, and how each person is a masterpiece.

Ephesians 2:10 reads "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." (NLT). I personally like to think of humanity as art work. We are constantly being moulded and shaped into something. What that something is depends on the way you live your life. By following God and leaning on His word, you are being made into a beautiful piece of art. However, by following earthly desires you are making mistakes on your canvas. The good news is that your canvas can be painted over. God is able to redeem your mistakes, and make you new. Thinking of a person as a canvas has its flaws, but I do believe it is a valid way of portraying how God fixes our mistakes to bring hope into our lives and those around us.

In Erwin McManus' book The Artisan Soul, he talks about Jesus' life being a masterpiece. Pretty high standard. No one is able to live like Jesus, except Jesus himself because He was both fully human and fully God. There is more good news! God also forgives our shortcomings! We are called to live like Jesus which means we do our best to fulfill that, but because that is impossible God will 'meet us in the middle'.

Because I challenges so much, I will end this week on another one. I encourage you to look in the mirror for a month and say to yourself (preferably out loud), that you are God's masterpiece. You are. The only problem is that you are your biggest critic, myself included, and each person sets higher standards for themselves than anyone else. Peace out Adam's Apples!
